Immediately after take-off today, while climbing, an artificial horizon appeared on the lower right part of the screen - which covered a large part of the map.  Does anyone what setting caused this to appear and how can it be disabled?

Also, the app refused to operate "Track Up."

I think I was having a communications probablem between the Stratux AHRS and the iPad.  Could that have caused the problems?

Thanks in advance, Mark

Mark, the artificial horizon sounds like the AHRS alert popped up.  This probably means the Stratux was not straight/level, or it was goofing up.  You can disable the alert here: Menu -> Setup -> Alerts & Warnings -> AHRS Alerts, set Pitch and Roll to "Disabled".  But might want to figure out why the Stratux AHRS is off.

To fly "Track Up", be sure you also touch the "Track Aircraft" button (the target looking button just above Menu).  When you start panning around, the map will freeze orientation until you hit Track Aircraft again.

Thanks,

Walter

Mark:

Saw the same high pitch warning when I tried a Stratux. You'll get the same warning if your roll too much.

I got rid of the Stratux because the artificial horizon had to be continually recalibrated because it drifted of level.

Hi Walter,

Thank you.  I think there was a problem with the Stratux AHRS calibration.

When you say "until you hit Track Aircraft again"  do you mean to push the "Track Up" button all the way on the bottom right?

Thanks again.

Mark

Hi John,

I have read that some of the AHRS sensors are not great but can be easily replaced for very little $.  I guess there's a trade-off for the very low price.

What did you replace the Stratux with?

Thanks.

Mark
