I velcro my battery to the bottom of my Stratux.  Then, I have a couple of strips of velcro (the furry side) across the bottom side of the battery.  I sit that on a piece of black rubbery shelf liner cut about 12" X 8" that I lay on the glare shield.  I got the shelf liner at WalMart.  Since I use an external GPS plugged into my Stratux, I lay it there also.  Works great.

I use a RAM windshield mount for my iPad and, since I am left handed, put it to the left side of the yoke.  That works great also.

Thanks - will do pretty much the same, though I am going to change BACK to having the Stratux NOT aiming forward as there is just not enough room on the dash to accommodate it without the antennas touching the windscreen and tilting down - no big deal. The one advantage to having the device face forward is that I can monitor the green and red light indicators to ensure the system is operating properly. Again, not a big deal as I can tilt my head around to peek at it...all good, thanks.

Now just waiting for synthetic vision to be released into the wild here for us all to upload! I am set for it!

To get all the jitters out of the attitude indicator, I had to beef up the glareshield underneath and to fashion two aluminum hold-down straps which bolt to the glareshield.

I use one sticky pads advertised to hold your cell phones on your car dashboard, similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/HandStands-Jelly-Sticky-Pad-Black/dp/B001L2V3F2/ref=pd_sbs_263_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B001L2V3F2&pd_rd_r=X8Q8296JZM51TGXXN3TE&pd_rd_w=KiCRa&pd_rd_wg=XF1Mu&psc=1&refRID=X8Q8296JZM51TGXXN3TE .

I doubt it's the same, my wife got it at OSH a few years ago.  It holds the Stratux and keeps it from sliding, but I don't know how it would work in turbulence which would likely accompany the loss of other instruments just when you don't need it.  It's worked well for me in relatively smooth air though.

Delighted to hear of the progress. Much thanks to all working on it and all who pushed for it.

A feww questions:

Most important......Will it work at all if the iFly is not linked to a device supplying artificial horizon input?

And if it does work without artificial horizon input, what will be the limitation. The obvious one would seem to be that the view present will not appropriately tilt left and right as you bank.

Less important to me, but curious: If the iFly is appropriately linked to display ADS-B traffic on the sectional, will that traffic show on the synthetic view?

HI Alex,

I will try to answer your questions but I do not claim to have the definitive answer, as I am "just a practical user" and not a designer or expert on SV.

1. SV will work without the AHRS hardware, but it will give LIMITED bank angle information. For the $15 upgrade and easy installation, a person can have the full capability of pitch, yaw and roll axis info (acting with the GPS).

2. Again, limited depiction - where WITH the AHRS hardware I will get the full 60 degree bank indications on SV, I will not get that without the AHRS chip.  Maybe 30 degrees?

3. The IFly IS linked to ADSB traffic and shows on BOTH the sectional (or whatever you prefer to depict) AND the SV view. I have posted many photos on this site showing that very feature, so please feel free to browse around and view them for your edification. Great questions and thanks for checking in! Again, I am no expert - these are opinions based on actual usage over a 4-5 week period.

Mike
