My Airspace Alerts do not warn of MOAs.

Running latest software; Alert distance set to 10 min; Altitude buffer 1000 ft; MOA is set to "alert button". I

I have flown up to and inside MOAs and get no alert. Is there another setting I'm not seeing?

Hi Steve,

In menu, click on 'alerts and warnings'. That will bring up another dropdown. Click on 'Airspace alerts'. Another dropdown, Click on 'Types'. Another dropdown, click on all the airspaces you want alerts for and and that will bring up another dropdown where you can chose the type of alert you want for those airspaces. It works exactly as you program it. Awesome!

Fly safe,

Packard

Thanks, Packard.

I just came from the airport and am sorry to report that I've gone thru that sequence and everything seems to be set up correctly. MOAs are set to warn with a warning button at 10 mins out with a 1000 ft buffer. Hmmm.

Just for kicks I'll "re-update" the software next trip even though I'm running ver 5.15.

Hi Steve,

Perhaps you could go to similation mode and try it there. Could help with trouble shooting.

Hi Ed - I do now have more info: I went in simulation mode as suggested and ran a flight from E38 east into the Laughlin One MOA (at 10,000 ft - the floor is 9000). It did NOT give me an alert. I do have MOAs set to alert with an alert button. HOWEVER, I then turned on "Other SUA" to alert with a button and now (under simulation) the Laughlin One MOA DID alert.

Hmmm...it really is an official MOA but seems it's treated as an other than MOA airspace. I have not yet tried an actual flight into the MOA with "other SUA" activated but I surmise it will act as it did in the simulation.

So to summarize, the alerts only recognize MOAs if "Other SUAs" is set to alert. It does not alert on MOAs if just "MOA's" is set to alert.

Steve
