My red light won't stay on, is it supposed to?

Yes. A blinking or intermittent red light (it's the power on indicator) tells you that the power to the pi is insufficient. What kind of power supply are you using?

An excellent source for all things STRATUX: https://www.reddit.com/r/stratux/

C177RG: iFly 720, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out. RV-3: 8" Samsung Tab A, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out.

Thanks. I was using the KMASHI that came with the kit. Switched to an Anker and had the same problem. Switched to a larger Anker and it is staying on now. I'm running 2 receivers, one each for 978 and 1090, so maybe it needs more power.

Generally speaking, the latest version of stratux apparently has reduced the power requirement to keep the pi happy. What version of the stratux image are you using? Version 0.4r4 is the latest (as of yesterday).

Another possible issue is the quality of the USB power cable. You might try changing to another USB cable and see if it will work on the original power supply.

I've been able to run the pi with two ADSB dongles off of a UBS power source at less than 2 amps without any issues.

Hope this helps.
